You may be on the verge of a babysitter search. The question is, do you have any idea where you can even find good sitters? There are a couple of good places where you could start looking for a sitter. Here are some of them:
Neighborhood
Begin in your immediate surroundings. Some of your teen neighbors may be willing to baby sit for you. You could also put up an ad on your front lawn and wait for community members to apply. Another way would be to personally ask your neighbors if they know of any good sitters. Many parents swear that this is by far still the best way to get a good sitter. Your neighbor can vouch for the ability and character of your sitter. Then again, even neighbors can make mistakes. They may not be fully aware of a sitter’s entire background or history.
Schools
Another option would be to look for sitters in your local high school or colleges. Many students on these levels need some extra cash for school needs and extra expenses. Advertising in a few online or offline school boards would guarantee that you would have more than a handful of prospects.
With sitters from local schools, you’ll be able to learn more about the sitter’s background. Most likely, they wouldn’t have criminal records. Otherwise they wouldn’t be in school. Nonetheless, you should still carefully screen applicants from schools to determine their character and ability.
Agencies
Agencies for Babysitters - Your babysitter search can also begin in agencies. Many agencies have been around for decades. They would therefore have a lot of experience in gathering good sitters. Agencies also provide you with the option of stay in or stay out sitters. They usually conduct background investigations on their applicants to ensure that you get a good sitter. Agencies however typically cost a lot. This is especially if you need to get a stay in sitter from another region or country. You may have to spend a thousand dollars or more to get a good sitter.
Advertisements
The Yellow Pages - People who wish to offer their services typically advertise. You can look through newspapers, yellow pages and even online job posts to find a baby sitter in your area. You would be hiring a virtual stranger though. This means that if you get a sitter through an advertisement, you would have to spend a great amount of time interviewing, screening and scrutinizing your prospects. You can never be too careful when it comes to the safety of your kids.
Online Services
Online services are similar to agencies. They have databases of sitter prospects that you can choose from. Many modern online services however charge cheaper. For a monthly or yearly membership fee, you can get a stay in or stay out sitter of your choice. These services also typically conduct background checks on potential sitters and let parents personally interview prospects. You also benefit from a number of parent resources that can give you advice on dealing with sitters.
These are only some places where you can begin your babysitter search. You can choose the method that is most convenient for you. You should however always put your child’s safety and welfare first. Pick the option where you are most certain to get a reliable sitter.

Baby showers began hundreds of years ago (yes! hundreds!) as small gatherings of close friends of the new parents to welcome the arrival of the newborn. Back then, it was customary for guests to visit only after the baby was about a month old because of fear of diseases. The gifts brought were all homemade except for silver spoons from the baby’s grandmothers.
The timing of baby showers has changed radically in our modern culture. Instead of waiting for the baby’s birth, showers are now held beforehand. This allows the gifts friends and family present to be immediately available for the baby’s benefit at its arrival. And unlike days of old, baby showers are now held for every child, not just the first born.
Like other celebrations, the privilege and responsibility of coordinating the event lies with the host. When necessary, the mother-to-be is consulted, but the bulk of the work is performed by the gracious host. The important decisions about things such as location, date, time, guest list and invitations, decorations, and, most important, food(!) are all left in the capable hands of the host.
Baby shower invitations can range from simple as a personal phone call to customized invitations from top-of-the-line stationery stores. The decision on which to use is based on the geographical closeness of the guests, their preferred ways of communication, and the size of your guest list. Regardless of the method chosen, the invitations must be made or received at least a month ahead of the baby shower. This allows the guests enough time to make arrangements in their personal schedule to attend.
To break the ice, the smart host has baby shower games prepared. Games give everyone a chance to focus on a common task, show people’s personalities, and give a reprieve from small talk. You can find dozens of fun games online both for sale and gratis.
Baby shower favors can be home-made or also purchased online. Party supply stores offer plenty of items like tiny tin cans, party favor bags, take-out boxes, and other fun items that can be used to make custom favors. Let your imagination run wild!
No party is complete without food, and baby showers are no exception. Make sure that your food complements your theme, and you’ll look like the hostess’ with the mostest! Add a special twist to the festivities by creating cookies and treats in baby-themed shapes: rattles, bottles, cribs. This’ll put a smile on everyone’s faces.
A well-planned shower ensures that everyone will remember the fun-filled event for the mother-to-be and baby for a long time to come.

Planning your first vacation with you baby is essential to the success of your trip.
We have provided 10 tips to consider when you are planning your vacation.
1. Anticipate where you will get food and water for your baby. It may not be an issue if you are traveling to a popular tourist destination, but it may be if you are going to a more remote area.
2. Medications. Anticipate what small ailments may occur to your child during the trip, and pack a small kit with the medicine that will help you to easily treat an upset tummy, a slight fever, an ear-ache, any rashes and so on.
3. In the past when it was just you and your spouse traveling on your own - you may have been on the go for the most part and you didn’t spend much time in your room. Things will be different now. Every day your baby will be napping and on many of those days it will be in your hotel room - or in your cabin on a cruise ship. Give yourself a place to spend the time that your child is napping - consider upgrading your room so that it has a balcony that you can relax on while your child sleeps.
4. Reduce your expectations. Anticipate that your vacation will not be as jammed packed as it used to be. Plan your day’s events around some time to stop and play and exercise with the baby. Identify the vacation places that each of you really want to see or visit on the trip - and then agree upfront that each of you will have times to see what they want to see while the other parents looks after your baby.
5. Our babies love to sleep in the stroller. That is great when we are at home - but not always so great on a vacation. If your baby is in their stroller too much during the day they may end up having too much daytime sleep making it difficult for them to sleep at night. During the day plan for regular breaks to get the baby out of their stroller and play with them at a park, or place a blanket on the ground and spend some time playing with them outside of their stroller.
6. Takes direct flights when flying. When possible avoid connecting air flights. Flying for babies is not always easy. The change in air pressure during take-offs and landings can be hard for babies.
7. If you plan on bringing a travel bed with you on your trip don’t wait for the vacation to get the baby accustomed to sleeping in it. A couple of days prior to your trip let the baby start sleeping in it to get them used to it.
8. Car seat. If your vacation plans include renting a vehicle then think about bringing your child’s car seat with you. Having your on car seat means that your baby will be comfortable in it and you will be comfortable knowing how to put it into the rental car and knowing that your child is as safe as they would be at home.
9. Vaccinations. Check with your baby’s doctor 6 to 8 weeks before the trip to ensure that your baby has all the necessary shots before they travel.
10. Make a list of the items that you will need for the baby during the trips. Things like diapers, wipes, face cloths, and so on. Review the list before you go and make sure that you have everything with you that you will need.

Next to or probably even to equal to the level of difficulty of raising teens is raising toddlers. Sometimes, these formative years make you feel like you’re living under a tyrant. Oftentimes, this is where first conflict arises between kids and parents even before the stage of adolescence. Any toddler’s parent would do well with a nice parenting tip at this point.
Among other issues, eating habits of toddlers is one major concern of parents. Some toddlers are just so picky that their eating habits are a source of anxiety and frustration for some parents. At such an instance, parents will do well to apply a relevant parenting tip. One parenting tip in itself is to not assume that your kid will get over pickiness. Some kids don’t so parents should try to do something.
Be Patient
Understand that your child is unique. The toddler stage is a time when kids first learn about things including food. They are still learning about taste and texture and some may simply just find something disagreeable. A related parenting tip is not to force your child. Pressure may translate to a life issue in the future.
Be a Model
An indispensable parenting tip is to be a constant model to your own kids. The rest of the family should be models too. Coming together as a family during meal time is a relevant parenting tip and one which you should attempt as often as possible. Make sure that your family dinner is full of healthy variety. Seeing you eat healthy food may encourage your toddler to do the same.
Stock on Healthy Food
Avoid stocking junk foods and sweets. In relation to this is the parenting tip to keep good, healthy food in your storage bins and refrigerator. This way, when your toddler gets hungry, he’ll have to eat what’s around. Besides if your toddler has been eating your stock of healthy food from the very beginning because there is nothing else to eat, he may have gotten used to it already.
Be Creative
Be creative. This includes being creative on the table. It is a suggested parenting tip to perhaps give unique cartooney names to dishes so that your toddler can relate to it. Another parenting tip is to be creative with recipes. Try mixing fruits with a favorite dessert or mixing yummy tastes with vegetables. One housewife for example recommends the parenting tip of mashing some vegetables like squash and potatoes and adding milk and a little salt and butter.
Don’t Be a Tyrant
If you are to be models as parents, then avoid being tyrants to your kids. Try giving them for example the chance to pick some food items for lunch. Ask them if they’d like peas, beans, carrots or corn. You can also cut down on deciding for yourself how much your toddler should eat. Put small portions on his plate and just ask him if he wants more.

Are you planning a baby shower? Perhaps you are in need of a theme. That’s right, these days you don’t just throw a baby shower, it has to have a theme too. There are many decisions to be made but the theme should get first consideration. Many baby showers these days have cartoon-inspired themes, and one of the most popular is the Winnie the Pooh baby shower.
The Pooh Bear theme was one that didn’t come easy in the first place but after some consideration I really felt that it was a good choice. Once I chose the theme I started shopping for Winnie the Pooh baby shower invitations as soon as possible. It was during my time looking at the many options that I became a little confused.
The problem was that I had too many Winnie the Pooh baby shower invitations to sift through. I never thought about the different themes within the theme that I would have to consider. There are classic Pooh designs that appeal to a traditional theme. The Pooh designs from my childhood really stood out but the baby Pooh designs seemed perfect for the occasion.
I was pretty sure that I wouldn’t use the baby Pooh designs. These characters are really cute and they do fit the overall event but these Winnie the Pooh baby shower invitation weren’t my style. They are adorable but I really wanted something that was a little more personal. This left me with two other options to consider.
The problem with Winnie the Pooh is that there are different eras of the bear. When I was young I only had books and toys that were the newer, more cartoony version. But once I grew up I discovered the classic Pooh books and toys and I love them even more. They remind me that there are older things in this world that are sometimes better than their newer counterparts.
So consider your selection carefully when you are shopping for invitations. Do you want the more serene classic Pooh theme for your baby shower, or the brighter baby friendly cartoon theme? There is no wrong choice here, just choose what you like the most.
Anyways, the choice was made so I grabbed by Winnie the Pooh baby shower invitations and then headed down the aisle to find more Pooh themed merchandise to help me throw the perfect shower. Regardless of what type of baby shower you are planning to hold, take a look at invitations first as they will help inspire you to find the perfect theme.
