Fun Birthday Games for Your Son’s Birthday Party

by Krystie Gina

If birthday parties aren’t something you’re used to planning, it could be challenging to come up with good birthday games for kids. Maybe you’re throwing a birthday party for your son and inviting his friends; you know for a fact that boys can be energetic and rowdy. That’s your starting point: Boys enjoy games that are fun and require activity. Let’s go over a few ideas.

Boys naturally love to play war games that involve pretend guns. If the birthday is in the summer, how about a water gun fight? Divide the boys up into two teams and let them fight like cowboys and Indians. The goal of this game is to get the other team more wet than your team! By the way, don’t forget to tell your guests to bring extra clothes when you send out your invitations. You don’t want them to be sitting in drippy wet clothes when it’s time to cut the cake. You can find good deals on water guns if you shop for them at the local dollar stores. You’ll be able to find a wide variety of colors and sizes.

When you’re thinking of birthday games for kids, they don’t have to be costly. Even a three-legged race will be a hit for boys. Just remember that if you do this game, you need to match the boys up according to size or there could be injuries as a result. Here’s how it works: Divide the boys into two teams. Two boys each will tie themselves to each other (right leg tied to the left leg). Each pair’s goal is to finish the race first. If the boys are older and you want to make it even more challenging, create an obstacle course.

Another idea that boys will enjoy is playing dress-up. Sound insane? Not if you get the boys to dress up as pirates and let them recreate scenes from their very favorite pirate stories. Better yet, if you plan on having a pirate theme for the birthday party, you could organize a pirate treasure hunt

One last birthday games for kids is the spoon race. All you will need for this game are spoons and something to balance on the spoons, like pieces of fruit, a small ball, or an egg. The object of this game is to have each team pass the spoon with their teeth through the line of your team. The first team to have the spoon reach the other end of the line without hands is the winner. This game may be too difficult for smaller boys though.

Hopefully all these tips for birthday games for kids have given you inspiration. Don’t forget to have fun yourself!

Children will be children- which is to say that they will be prone to danger and risk as they explore the world around them. Riding a bike is just one example of how children can obtain injury from falls and crashes. But the proper safety equipment will make even the clumsiest of children safe to ride to their hearts content.

For younger children who may even still be in diapers, the thrill of riding a bike is still able to be had. Specialized bike seats, commonly known as “Weeride” products, give smaller children the joy of riding a bike. Of course an adult will be required to pedal the bike, but the safety equipment allows for an easy attachment of a baby carrier so that babies can still enjoy the thrill.

The common baby seat is placed in the back, although this is a major safety risk. Adults will appreciate the front riding seats that products such as Weeride provides. After all, a crash or other accident will leave a back seat strewn about, without the aid of the adult. But when riding right next to the adult’s arms, smaller children are much more protected as a result.

For tikes that are too old to sit in a baby seat, there is another option that allows for the same experience without the dangers. This option comes via the co-pilot bike. This model of Weeride products allows for a smaller bike to be in junction with a larger bike. It allows for the child to pedal just like the adult would, but the child can’t turn as it is attached to the back of the adult’s bike.

Still older kids will also be able to benefit from increased safety through the Weeride product known as the “EZ Trainer.” This product allows an adult to control the child’s bike via an elongated stick-like device. This can be done without the training wheels that most kids learn off of, and gives children the feeling of actually riding the bike- unlike the feeling that training wheels produce.

Lastly, most consumers will have questions as to which products fit which bikes. The good news is that most Weeride products do indeed fit the majority of bikes- depending on the product. Some products such as the “EZ Trainer” will even fit all standard bikes, with very few exceptions. Other products allow for maximum interchangeability, meaning that investing in such a product won’t turn into a poor investment as a result of not being able to use it.

    In Conclusion

There is much cause to celebrate with the addition of a Weeride product in a family’s household. After all, the gift of enjoying a fun bike ride is priceless. Allowing children to experience the joys that adults can is rewarding- and doubly so thanks to safety equipment and technology that minimizes the risk of injury that comes as a result of such activities.

  • Six Reasons Your Child Should Learn Logic

    by Phyllis Wheeler

In Star Trek, the logical mind of Mr. Spock contrasts with the emotional minds of everyone else. But this is fiction. In reality, each of us needs to be both logical and emotional.

If you don’t work on it, you may never develop the skill of logical thinking. But you need to have this skill, to identify logic traps.

Instead of just going with the flow, you can be proactive and teach logic to your child. In the process, you may get some practice at it too. Here’s why:

    1. Your child will be able to make better choices, understanding the principle of cause and effect. For instance, any “friends” who push him to waste money and time may find he turns a deaf ear, because he understands the logical consequences.

    2. Your child will be a good problem-solver. Good problem-solving involves coming up with a list of options to consider. This will help later on in a range of situations, from how to deal with a plugged-up sink to what to do about a car that breaks down.

    3. Your child will be better prepared to challenge advertising. He will be able to identify fallacies such as circular reasoning. For example, an advertiser might tell us, “Happy folks buy Toastie Puffs.” What he means is, “Buy Toastie Puffs, and you’ll be happy!” This is circular logic! Can your child recognize it?

    4. Your child will be able to carefully consider persuasion from politicians and the media. What if a TV reporter interviews five people who say the US should allow illegal immigrants to stay? Then the reporter concludes that everyone in the state wants illegal immigrants to stay. What is the problem here? This is an error in generalizing from too small a sample group. The reporter needs opinions from a much wider sample group. Can your child see the error?

    5. Your child can learn to evaluate advice on the basis of the qualifications of the person doing the advising. If your dentist tells you to floss your teeth, you will believe him — he’s an expert. But if he tells you to put an oil additive in your car, you need to weigh the advice because he’s not an expert there.

    6. Your child will be able to understand computer logic as well. Computers think simply: if A is true, do B; if not, do C. Our own brains aren’t so linear. But learning to think in a linear manner like this will help a child learn logical thinking, a useful skill in the Information Age. In fact, a child who learns about computers can master computers eventually.

It is something that every teacher will have seen.

There will be bright children in the class, who work hard but struggle to read.

Initially everything can seem OK. But, while other children’s reading progresses steadily, these children will hit a plateau at around 6. As the text they are expected to read gets more complicated, they will get more and more confused, often guessing wildly.

And then their confidence collapses under the pressure. They can feel everyone’s concern and don’t know what to do to fix the problem.

Sometimes this leads to a diagnosis of dyslexia, which is quite wrong.

Dyslexia is a broad term that covers any fundamental problem with reading despite normal intelligence.

But these children have no real reason not to be able to read. They are just approaching it in the wrong way.

    Let me explain the process.

A very visual child will find the alphabet easy to memorise. Then the first words they are show they will memorise as well. Everyone praises their progress and as far as they know, they are reading. The early reader books feed into this by using a very limited vocabulary that repeats a lot.

    So all seems well.

But this approach implodes on them as the text gets more complicated. Some children will be able to switch to decoding words phonetically, because they also have a strong natural auditory ability. They can see how the sounds within the speech relate to the text.

Others cannot make the switch without careful instruction. Their auditory perception just isn’t up to hearing the phonic structure of the words.

And these children are heading for failure

They will use the context to guess wildly, taking the first letter of the word as a guide.

They are baffled by their predicament and have no idea why it has gone wrong. They can feel people’s frustration, but have actually been working hard.

One in five children reach the age of 11 unable to read properly and these children make up a large proportion of that group. It is a disaster for their academic career and working life.

And what a tragedy. We routinely watch them become confident readers in just a few weeks. They only need to be guided back onto the right path.

The label dyslexic carries a great risk that everyone will just relax into acceptance of the situation as inevitable. That leaves the child to deal with a much harder path through life.

  • Is Organic Baby Skincare Good For Your Baby

    by Sudha Kaviraj

The world’s entire population of mothers will probably worry about how best to care for their baby. After all, babies have super sensitive skin. A baby’s skin originated from the same source as his eyes and ears. Applying the right skin products and choosing organic baby products are important. With the skin, babies sense where their own body stops and where the outside world begins.

A baby’s skin develops after four years of age. But a baby’s skin is four to five times thinner than an adult’s skin. In the early stages of your baby’s life you will want to make sure you use the best baby organic skincare products.

The award-winning baby organic range by Weleda contains no detergents to strip the skin of natural oils. To protect your baby’s skin against drying winds use Calendula Weather Protection Cream.

Organic baby products which contain plant-based oils are best for baby skin. Restless babies may benefit from the soothing qualities of calendula. Weleda have a very good Calendula Cream Bath or a mild vegetable-based soap like Calendula Soap for grubby babies. After bathtime opt for Calendula oil or Calendula lotion.

In Germany, the Weleda organic baby skincare range is already recommended by 70 percent of midwives as it’s an organic baby range that has been dermatological tested not just on healthy skin but also irritated skin prone to dermatitis or eczema.

Equally, Green People too have good organic baby products. Organic baby skincare products like the baby wash and mum and baby moisturiser have are midwife tested. Green People use natural properties that help young baby skin to stay soft and healthy.

Green People’s use of oils, extracts and essences of plants such as aloe vera, lavender and chamomile are gentle for your baby. Green People use certified organic ingredients and are winners this year of the Natural Health Beauty Awards.

Many more ranges are dedicated to baby organic skincare products. Spiezia, Neals Yard Remedies, Balm Balm, a new range for both baby and adult organic skincare are just some of the exciting new organic skincare ranges to try. Once Johnsons would have been the skincare choice for most mothers but now young mothers are making more natural baby organic skincare choices for their babies.
